ITheater is an open source project that is being developed under the GNU General Public License by a group of programmers around the world. This term is used to signify that the application is a product of not one, but many dedicated developers. The iTheater Group is a term that refers to the programmers of the application. The application is designed to discover and present an array of cross-platform multimedia content in a user friendly and eye pleasing way. iTheater is but one of a few non-Apple Macintosh media center applications and is similar to Windows XP Media Center Edition. With the release of the Mac mini at MacWorld SF 2005, it became possible to keep a small computer, with a lot of power, in the living room to share the multimedia content created by Apple's "Digital Hub". Unfortunately, just as interest in saving many of the area’s historic buildings was starting to pick up, the Texas Theatre was razed in 1983, but its facade was salvaged, and incorpated into the modern office building built on the site. However, after many years as a successful first-run house, even thriving during the Depression era, the Texas Theatre began to decline, and closed in the 1970’s.
