![]() ![]() I can now watch any video in Discord chat in full-screen and come out of it without my PC hard locking up to a black screen. I did some reading online and found a couple suggestions including turning off FreeSync and/or HDCP support while u/Proliator suggested that turning off Link State Power Management under PCI Express in Windows power plan settings may alleviate black screen issues - this seemed to be the most likely culprit to me so I went ahead and turned this option to off and it worked. Interestingly enough YouTube does not crash in FireFox when coming out of full-screen so I have to assume it has something to do with how Discord is using the GPU to accelerate the video which trips up the PCIE Power Link State (explained below) while FireFox is using non-GPU related acceleration which does not change the PCIE Power Link state.īlack screen crashing / PC lockup after coming out of full-screen video from Discord chat. ![]() This happened every single time I came out of viewing a video from Discord chat in full-screen. It seems like people really appreciated my previous post about how I fixed my black screen crashing issues while rendering 3D applications so I am posting my latest fix in order to further help people and record this for posterity. ![]()
